Breathe…Photo 2 and Memories and Thanks

First I want to say thank you to everyone for the all the beautiful  comments last week and making the first week of Sally’s Focus on life  so special, I tried to make it to all the blogs  and really enjoyed reading all of our stories.

Secondly, thanks to Lori Anderson for hosting the Memories and Thanks blog hop.

I decided to combine the 2 in one post as they seemed to go together.

I chose the word breathe this year because it really resonated with me in yoga class one day as the instructor said breathe in peace and breathe out tension, but I found this on Pinterest and like it even better.

I know when I breathe in deeply it really calms me and makes me aware of the  present moment.

My thanks goes to my mother that gave me my breath and who I miss especially this month as it is her birthday month.

When I first started making jewelry my Mom wanted a simple pearl bracelet so I whipped one up and gave it to her.

When my Mom  lost her battle with lung cancer it came back to me in her jewelry box.

In honor of her I decided to re-do  the “Dee” bracelet” by hand knotting it in  red, one of her favorite colors.

So to honor my mom and honor this beautiful life that I live…

Breathe

  2. Lovely bracelet and a wonderful special word.

  3. What a beautiful post! I lost my mom 2 years ago, and I too inherited her jewelry box, and pictures. I found several things from me in … and made me thankful that my mom kept those things as close treasures to her.

  8. What a beautiful post. I loved your chosen word and the way you elaborated. It touched my heart when you talked about your mom. My mom passed away in the month of January and I often do think of her especially when I feel cold.

Any way, lovely post and your jewelry piece is nice, meaningful.

  13. Sandi, you’ve shared such a wonderful post with us in honor of your Mom. Thank you for sharing some of your memories with us. The pearl bracelet you created is beautiful and I love the knotting and the way you related back to your special Mother.

  14. Sandi, I love your post and how you were able to tie two challenges together. Your bracelet is lovely and a wonderful reminder of your mom. My mom was my best customer. When she passed away from cancer in 2011 I received back all the pieces I made for her, along with a few of her own pieces.

I love the word you chose and, your photo is just lovely.

  16. Sandi,
Your beautiful words made me cry! I love what you found on Pinterest – breathe in peace, breathe out love – such a meaningful practice! I also found your words and symbol of your mother to be very moving and meaningful and I love how you photographed your word for the year – it’s lovely. Gorgeous bracelet. I hope it brings you much comfort and joy each time you wear ‘her’.

  17. A beautiful word and an even more beautiful post. I love how the two tie in together.

I hope we get to see more of each other this year!

  21. What an amazing post! I love how you tied both of the blog hops together with your word and bracelet! Stunning!

  22. Sally Russick says:

Sandi, I can relate to your post in so many ways! I lost my mom to stomach cancer seven years ago and have a few scarves that her would wear, they still smell of her and take me back to snapshots of a time when I still had her here to talk too. The bracelet you made your mom is beautiful and the photo of it with your word is wonderful! Breathe, such a calming word!

  23. Wonderful word, wonderfully written and touching post. Thank you for sharing with us.

  24. Sandi, thank you for sharing! I am very lucky in that both my mother and my mother-in-law are still with me, but I inherited a number of special items I made for my husbands grandmother. Every time I see them I think of her and smile. I particularly love the quote in your photo of Dee’s bracelet. It is so true! And focusing on our breathe does remind us to live in the moment.

  25. Hi Sandi,
Thank you for sharing you take on your word Breath. I like the poster too breath in peace, breath out love, this could be difficult to do all the time, but it is something that one needs to remind one’s self of to help in trying situations.
    Therese

  26. Lovely post. I’m sure every time you wear your bracelet you will remember the moments, and to breathe.

  27. That is lovely.
I inherited my Grandma’s jewellery box, and every piece in there brings back so many memories.

  28. Beautifully written….and the pearls look beautiful with the red. Thankyou for sharing.

  29. Oh Sandi how beautiful. I was peacefully and purposefully breathing just in reflex to your post. It immediately broght back a memory of holding my daughter on my chest while she was in hospital, on oxygen support. Her heart rate was going up, her breaths shallower and my dear friend visiting with us that day – in loving support said “you can’t breathe for her” But you know, that rythym, that slow in and out, she fell in line. I think that idea of breathing in peace and breathing out love is very true. Thank you so much for sharing your story

  30. What a lovely heartfelt post. Breathe is one of the most beautiful words. And your bracelet is so very pretty.

  31. I would give you a hug now. Thank you for sharing that memory of your mother. Your word for the year is a powerful one. I know it will serve you well!

  32. Thank you for sharing the story of your Mom. It’s a gift to receive the treasures left behind by a loved one.

  33. Hi Sandy, Your post was great. The word that you chose is so right. The saying is perfect. Thanx for sharing your story with us. Dee’s pearls look unique with the red thread. Hope you enjoy wearing them. Tying the 2 hops together was a clever idea.

  34. That is a beautiful testimony to your mom. And a wonderful word. We take for granted that we have these breaths, these moments, until they are no longer there. I am wishing you joy in the journey this year, Miss Sandi! Enjoy the day. Erin

  35. What a wonderful way to tie both your word and your memories together. And what a pretty bracelet.

  36. Love the comment about your mom giving you breathe, and love the way you breathed new life into her bracelet. Sure it is the most treasured thing in your jewelry box now.

  37. Very moving, loving bracelet.

  38. Maybeline says:

I LOVE your post. I LOVE the quote “Breathe in Peace and breathe out LOVE”. I am reminded to surround myself with peace-loving people and love. The bracelet made for your mom is such a lovely tribute.

  39. Sandi what a moving post. The tribute to your Mom is deeper than I think you even recognize here, your word is breathe and she passed away of lung cancer, a very deep connection you are feeling still and rightfully so. The post and bracelet and sentiment are beautiful. Hugs to you my friend!

  40. Breathing has been my motto for the past six months. Between my mother’s Alzheimers and a challenging year with my middle son, I learned how to meditate in order to stay calm and remember to breath and trust that everything is the way its meant to be.

  41. christine says:

I love your tribute and bracelet – beautiful! I made myself a ring when I moved my Dad near me & stamped Breathe on it – I always wear it to remind myself.

  42. Totally Love your tribute and bracelet. Thank you for sharing your touching story.
    Peace and Love.
